The Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) discloses the latest audited newspaper circulation figures. They show the average circulation for the period January to December 2023. These figures are the most reliable benchmarks for the publishing industry. The rigour applied by the ABC puts paid to any exaggerated claims made by publishers about the circulation levels of their respective media companies.
The report also reiterates the need for newspapers to carry out a proper audit so that advertisers get a clear picture of the newspapers’ actual circulation, rather than being blindsided by the figures that managements put forward. Currently, many newspapers are using outdated 2019 IRL data to claim their circulation figures are high. They have not undergone the ABC audit that advertisers rely on so heavily.
Incidentally, the Indore edition of the group has also seen growth. Its circulation has also increased in this city, although other publications have seen a decline.
FPJ’s growth, relevance and reliability remain the three most important focal points. Because of the emphasis on relevance, FPJ has decided to aggressively promote its digital activities. Its English-language pdf dailies are sent to 2.75 lakh recipients every day. This does not take into account the forwarding and distribution of these pdf copies by the recipients. The group has repeatedly stated categorically that it welcomes redistribution as the pdf version is available free of cost to anyone who wants to read it. In this way, the FPJ reaffirms the right to information and knowledge that every Indian must have.
