The doyens of Fourth Dimension Media, Shankar (CEO) and Bharath (COO), were known for their never ending zeal to explore new opportunities in virgin territories. Their latest initiative to partner with various Tribute Bands to create string of tribute properties seems to be heading in the right direction.
In an exclusive chat with tvnews4u, Shankar and Bharath share their plans and what they have in store for this new initiative:
Excerpts:
Tell us how did this event start?
It all started 2 years ago, when we were on our way to Cannes via Prague.I always had a fascination for Freddie Mercury, when someone said this band ( Prague Queen ) is performing, we went travelled almost 40 kms outskirts of Prague to see them perform.
Were they good?
Oh they were mesmerizing, didn’t expect them to sound like Freddie, instantly we connected the next day with Peter Freestone ( FreddieMercury’s Manager ) and requested them to come to India, it took 2 years thou!
My question to Bharath, will you be doing something like this in South too ?
Yes, we did one way back in 2014 at Chennai, with a local band, a Tribute to Rolling Stone and Scorpions, it was houseful despite a cyclone, and we plan to have a series from next year.
Is the Chennai market willing to accept all this?
Bharath: We represent an English Radio station, the advertisers have increased ten fold from the time we started, surprisingly most of them being Retailers in South, South according to us has crossed the barrier of being branded a conventional market. It’s more mature and has developed demand for such kind of international properties.
Shankar, moving onto you, how does International Concert fit into Fourth Dimension DNA ?
Good Question, we have always been wanting to offer beyond TV, Print and Digital, there couldn’t be a better way to tell our fraternity than this. This is the first ever Tribute to Queen in Bombay, I personally wanted to start with Queen, since Freddie an Indian, Bombayites can relate better, for all said and done – Bombay is the Capital of Media & Entertainment – couldn’t have asked for more.
How has the response been so far?
It Started, its picked up at Jet speed, we are flooded with calls all over – didn’t expect people to call me from Goa,Pune,Bangalore – that shows the power this man has. Also not to forget there’s a biopic of Freddie being release next month I guess.
So what’s next ?
Audience and Fans all over can expect a Tribute soon to Aerosmith, Beatles and Coldplay starting next year. Planning to take them to a few cities in South India too.
Why only Tribute Bands ?
Because Originals are way expensive, we struggled to find a sponsor for this event too. While people are keen, enthusiastic, I wish the clients too expressed the same emotion, we are determined to bring a world-class experience in the next couple of years.
Last Question to both Shankar &Bharath, does this mean a bigger footing into the Experiential space? Less of TV and all..!
Not all – TV is our bread, butter and Jam, this could be bigger one, has to see, its very difficult to predict what it will look like in future. The promise is ‘We will rock you ‘ with this event.
