Chennai: Changemakers, usher in a change that transformed the lives of millions. And continues to do so.Today, there are a few such in our midst, in India. Each of them has impacted society in a very big and in a very positive way. Their work has helped enhance the quality of life and livelihoods, and made the world a better place.In commemorating its 25th anniversary, BusinessLine seeks to recognise and reward these transformers for their achievements through its Changemaker Awards.
The awards will recognise and reward those individuals, entities and organisations, who through their work, have contributed to materially improve the condition of society, economy and the planet.
The first edition of the BusinessLine Changemaker Awards will be held in New Delhi on March 16, 2018, at the ITC Maurya Sheraton Hotel. The Hon’ble Finance Minister of India, Shri Arun Jaitley, will present the awards.
The Statement from The Hindu BusinessLine Changemaker Awards stated, “We have put in place a robust process to identify these changemakers. The first step in the award process is seeking nominations that are then shortlisted, based on a set of criteria, to arrive at the final nominees in each category.”
“The Hindu BusinessLine Changemaker Awards is not just another corporate award celebrating balance sheet or marketplace success. While these are undoubtedly important, we believe that the real heroes who need to be celebrated are those human catalysts of change, whose work benefits not just shareholders and other stakeholders, but society at large.”
The Award Categories:
Changemaker Of The Year – This award will go to a person (or an organisation) who has ushered in a far-reaching change. By virtue of this being the flagship award, the impact of the change should clearly stand out from other winners
Young Changemaker – This award celebrates a changemaker who is below 30 years of age
Changemaker – Digital Transformation – A changemaker who has leveraged digital technology to bring about the change
Changemaker – Financial Transformation – A changemaker who has transformed the society through his work in the areas of financial inclusion, banking, micro-finance and so on by adopting modern technologies or otherwise
Changemaker – Social Transformation – An award for individuals or organisations that have done considerable work when it comes to health, education, poverty alleviation, gender equality, woman empowerment and so on

The List of Jury Panel who will be shortlisting the winners will be Amitab Kant from NITI Ayogh, S Ramadorai – Former CEO and MD of TCS, Rohini Nilekani – Founder & Chairperson of Arghyam, Debjani Ghosh – President NASSCOM, Gopal Srinivasan- CMD – TVS Capital Fund, Naina Lal Kidwai – Banker & Former Country Head of HSBC Bank and CV Madhukar – Omidyar Network.
