As the Covid pandemic arrived in 2020 without any warning, all hell broke loose. Changing the lives of each and every soul on earth, was a new experience for the world. The lockdown period during Covid-19 has given us all a positive and negative scenario to ponder about. While offices turned to work from home, schools and colleges had no choice but to adapt to the new normal and hence switched to online education. While the pandemic was not a time to cherish, there was a lot of learning and adjustment. There were few creative ones, who despite facing similar woes made a mark by changing the pandemic time in their favour.
Writer and director Sameer Sharma, who made his directorial debut with ‘Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana’ recently won Silver at the Spikes Asia Awards 2022 for his short film ‘Master Ji’ starring actor Raghuvir Yadav. The idea of this nine-minute film was brimmed during the covid time of 2020 and was executed in 2021. This film portrays the journey of a teacher from the inception of the lockdown to date. Incidentally, it was released around Teacher’s Day. Sameer is elated to receive the award
Sameer Sharma started his film career as an assistant director with celebrated films such as ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ and ‘Dil to Pagal hai’. Besides being part of prestigious projects like HP commercial, Tata Cliq and the famous BYJU’S teacher’s day advert, he has also penned for film projects like ‘Swades’, ‘Bhoot’, ‘Khoya Khoya Chaand’ and dialogues for ‘Raincoat’.
As per him, his film represents a real India and he feels ecstatic to win this prestigious award. This as per him is a universal story and a tribute to all our teachers who actually form a nation and set a tone for the future.

This Silver win at the Spikes Asia Awards is definitely a phenomenal ode to all the teachers who keep the world moving and growing every day and who imbibe the values in the ones they teach to not just keep learning but also unlearn and relearn.
