The Filmfare Awards 2022, a celebration of excellence in cinema is drawing close with its 67th edition. Filmfare unveils the list of nominations to recognize the best in Hindi cinema, for the year 2021. This year, the award night will be held in full glory with a live on-ground show on August 30, 2022, at the Jio World Convention Centre, BKC in Mumbai.
Taking forward the six-decade-long legacy, the grand event is expected to be brimming with entertaining acts, big wins, and memorable moments. This year, biographical films definitely seem to be the favourites. Topping the list is Shershaah, a heart-warming film depicting the valour and patriotism of Captain Vikram Batra, directed by Vishnuvardhan with an astounding 19 nominations across categories. This is followed by 83, directed by Kabir Khan, which shows how Kapil Dev led the Indian Cricket team to its first-ever World Cup victory, and Sardar Udham, a biographical historical drama directed by Shoojit Sircar – both with 15 & 13 nominations respectively. Besides these 3 films, Rashmi Rocket has received 11 nominations followed by Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Sherni getting 09 nominations each. Lastly, special mention goes to Atrangi Re, MIMI, and Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi receiving 07, 06, and 05 nominations across categories respectively.
The race for the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) is sure to be intense. For the former, Dhanush (Atrangi Re), Ranveer Singh (83), Sidharth Malhotra (Shershaah), and Vicky Kaushal (Sardar Udham) have been nominated. For the latter, Kangana Ranaut (Thalaivii), Kiara Advani (Shershaah), Kriti Sanon (Mimi), Parineeti Chopra (Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar), Taapsee Pannu (Rashmi Rocket), and Vidya Balan (Sherni) will be vying for the Black Lady. Through its three broad categories – Popular Awards, Critics’ Awards, and Technical Awards, Filmfare will be commemorating the achievements of the cast and the crew as well.

The event will be hosted by Bollywood’s powerhouse Ranveer Singh, he will be accompanied by his partner-in-crime Arjun Kapoor along with Maniesh Paul as his co-hosts. The night will also see Varun Dhawan, Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani, and Disha Patani set the stage for Hindi Cinema’s biggest awards night. The show will air on Colors on 9th September at 9 PM and will be simulcast on Filmfare’s Facebook page, globally.
