Mumbai: Eros International Media Ltd (Eros International), a leading global film company in the Indian film entertainment industry, has announced today that their film, the highly-acclaimed Newton, directed by Amit V Masurkar’s, starring Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi and Raghubir Yadav has been selected as India’s official submission for the Best Foreign Film language category at the Oscars, 2018 as stated by Film Federation of India (FFI). The film received rousing accolades at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year and has released in cinemas today to outstanding critic reviews.

Presented by Eros International and Colour Yellow, produced by Drishyam Films, Newton is a dark comedy about a rookie government clerk, assigned to conduct elections in the conflict-ridden jungles of Chhattisgarh, despite the fear of Naxalite attacks. Moved by the difference in the Indian Constitution’s preamble and the reality, Amit V. Masurkar, envisioned this year’s highly-anticipated film and penned the political comedy-drama’s screenplay along with Mayank Tewari.
