As a child bride from Nadiad, Tanjuman Banu’s dreams of becoming a fashion designer were put on hold due to various challenges. However, her spirit of never giving up and support from Equitas equipped her in her journey of exploration and transformation. Not only did Equitas support Tanjuman Banu financially, but also assisted in starting sewing classes which further empowers more women.
“This International Women’s Day, we at Equitas, are inspired by the remarkable journey of Tanjuman Banu,. We believe that women have the capability of becoming agents of change in our society. Tanjuman Banu’s courage of fighting against her personal challenges to achieve her dreams are true testament for us to continue empowering the potential of women. Her story exemplifies how financial inclusion brings about a positive change in the society, helping us push boundaries to provide services ‘Beyond Banking’. We feel incredibly proud to be a crucial part of Tanjuman Banu’s journey from aspiring to be a fashion designing student to a teacher who also empowers other women and we promise to remain dedicated to celebrate and amplify more voices of women like her” stated Vignesh Murali, Senior Vice President & Head – Marketing, Equitas SFB.
Banu’s principle that talent must get work, worked as a driving force to pursue her dream where she is now a teacher, who has trained 500-600 girls to make clothes, just like in fashion designing. Through this support, Equitas symbolises the idea that everyone deserves the opportunity to reach newer heights and explore their full potential.
