Digital imaging and printing solutions company Epson has launched a campaign film for Diwali that reminds us to retain the essence of the festival.
The film of nearly five minutes features a nuclear family with a young girl. An exchange between the couple on Diwali celebrations sets the tone for the brand to deliver the message. Upon receiving a box of sweets delivered to their door, the husband starts off on the convenience that connectivity has bestowed on them – of allowing wishes and calls on the phone, sweets delivered and so on. His wife reminds him of the authentic aspects of Diwali when they were younger. She does so by asking him about the best sweets he had during the festival, which was made by a neighbour he vividly remembers for the dish. She asks him about the best greeting card, the visits to loved ones, the significance that new clothes held and so on.
He comes around and decides to give their daughter the gift of an authentic Diwali. Traditional celebratory music kicks in, as do the festivities, with visitors in tow.
The film has been produced by Arvind Iyer at Magic Bus Films and based on a script by the team at Langoor Digital and Epson.
Tushad Talati, Director, Brand and Communication, Epson India, said, “Epson’s ‘A Special Diwali’ campaign serves as a gentle reminder to reconnect with our roots and rekindle traditions that embody the true spirit of Diwali. The film urges us to reflect on how things have changed over the years when it comes to celebrating Diwali and how a little extra effort can bring back wonderful facets of our Diwali celebrations.”
