The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named McCann Worldgroup and Scarecrow M&C Saatchi to lead its creative advertising account for the fast approaching Lok Sabha election.
When considering the massive outreach plan of BJP, it was not certain whether the other advertising agencies with the likes of Ogilvy and Efficacy, had pitched for the creative mandate or would be allotted to handle some parts of the mandate. Meanwhile, both Prasoon Joshi, Chairman, McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific, and Manish Bhatt, Director, Scarecrow M&C, denied commenting on the same.
“The creative mandate is expected to be managed by McCann Worldgroup-TAG, a new-age ad agency owned by McCann, and Scarecrow M&C Saatchi,” said the spokesperson.
According to the reports, the ruling party is also in the process of roping in a few other independent agencies for date-led tech and digital advertising, regardless of regional, outdoor, and influencer-led campaigns and social media.
On the other hand, The Congress Party, has awarded DDB Mudra to lead its election campaign.
An estimated sum of 27,000 crore in the run-up to the 2019 general election, could be the BJP’s expense. The ad-budgets could spike up to 30% to 40% over 2019, as per the reports.
