Mumbai :The mega hit Malayalam movie Dishyam sparks controversy as Bollywood producer and Queen of Hindi Soap Opera Ekta Kapoor sends legal notice to the makers of the record setting movie.
Ekta indicted the makers for plagiarism and claimed that the story bears close resemblances to the novel “The Devotion of the Suspect Ex” by the well known Japanese writer Keigo Higashino.
Ekta has also claimed that she acquired the rights for the film adaptation of the novel from the Writer Keigo Higashino.. It is speculated that Ekta had plans to make the film with Naseeruddin Shah and Vidya Balan in the lead roles.
This is not the first time the film has been charged with plagiarism. Earlier also Many critics have pointed out the similarities of the film “Dhrishyam” and the Japanese novel.
Ekta’s legal team had already served a Legal Notice to the Malayalam Director Jithu Joseph.
However, the director of Drishyam Jithu Joseph has defended himself saying that has not tried copy the novel and that it is just a coincidence. Not only the Malayalam version but Kannada and Telugu version which was released last week also took the box office with storm.
Jithu Joseph will be Directing Kamal Haasan for the remake of the movie in Tamil and before that he landed himself into the controversy.
The Hindi Remake rights for Drishyam also got sold and Actor Akshay Kumar is expected to perform the role of Mohanlal in Malaylam Version.
