Malappuram: What started as a joyous Eid gathering at Nasirul Uloom Madrassa near Thirurangadi quickly transformed into a strong movement against drug abuse, as the community came together to take a firm stand against the growing menace.
Spearheaded by the Kerala Muslim Jamaat, Samastha Kerala Sunni Yuvajan Sangham (SYS), and Kerala State Sunni Students Federation (SSF) of Venniyur unit, the event was aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and mobilizing collective action.
Following Eid prayers, the Madrassa saw a diverse gathering of students, youth, and elders, who pledged to remain vigilant against drugs and actively work towards eradicating substance abuse from society. Nearly 100 attendees took an anti-drug oath, marking their commitment to protect their families and communities.
SYS Malappuram West District Vice President NM Zainuddin Saqafi inaugurated the campaign, stressing the urgent need to curb drug abuse and dismantle the networks fueling the crisis. P Mohammed Hasan led the anti-drug pledge, reinforcing the community’s resolve to take proactive steps against the issue.
