New Delhi: The E-Gaming Federation (EGF), India’s leading skill-gaming body, has launched ‘CityQuest: Shades of Bharat,’ an online educational game developed in partnership with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). The initiative is part of the ‘Create in India Challenge’ for Waves 2025 and was unveiled by EGF CEO Anuraag Saxena.
Powered by Games24x7, the game aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for urban planning in Amrit Kaal. “Waves Summit and IFFI will establish Goa as a hub for creativity and talent,” stated MIB Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
‘CityQuest’ aims to transform a traditional card game into a platform showcasing the strengths of Indian cities, using data from NITI Aayog’s SDG Urban Index (2021) to reflect urban indicators across 56 cities. It promotes awareness of sustainable development goals through interactive gameplay.
Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of MIB, emphasized the initiative’s role in nurturing India’s creative ecosystem and encouraging young innovators. Saxena added, “Gaming can educate and inspire. CityQuest is a bridge to understanding urban Bharat and celebrating its development.”
Players will engage in single-player mode, competing against a computer using city cards that feature key statistics. The game fosters local pride through national and city-specific leaderboards, inviting participation from diverse regions.
