“Avengers: Infinity War” will surpass $1 billion at the box office on Saturday, 11 days after its release and faster than any movie in history says Walt Disney Co.
The first part of the “Infinity War” featuring actors Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson, amongst others, portrays superheroes from the Marvel comic universe. A creation from the Marvel Entertainment franchise, Infinity War is the 34th film to pass that box-office milestone, as mentioned in Disney’s email. It’s the 17th from Disney and the sixth from Marvel Studios.
With “Infinity War” has made a whooping $975 million until Friday, Disney surpassed $3 billion in global gross revenue for the calendar year. The previous mark, also by Disney, was 6 May, 2016.
The latest release “Avengers” is forecasted to rock the box office for the consecutive second weekend, and is in a close competition for the leading spots all-time with Disney’s two other movies namely “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” from 2015 and this year’s “Black Panther”
“Infinity War” will continue to dominate the box office until the release of “Deadpool 2” by 20th Century Fox’s on May 18. However it Disney is most likely to get back to the show with upcoming release “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” by this month end.
Apparently, movies like “Overboard,” “Tully” and “Bad Samaritan,” have expected to lag with “Infinity War” at the box office.
