New Delhi: Discovery Jeet, the upcoming Hindi Entertainment channel from the Discovery Network is gearing up for the launch with a set of unique concepts that were never seem in the Hindi Entertainment space. One of its show 21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897 was based on the bravery 21 solders in British Indian Army.
Produced by Abhimanyu Singh’s Contiloe Pictures Pvt. Ltd, 21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897 is a fiction show inspired by the real-life story of 21 brave soldiers of 36th Sikh regiment of the British Indian Army which defended an army outpost at Saragarhi in the North-West Frontier Province against an onslaught by over 10,000 Pashtun and Orakzai tribals in September 1897.
Mukul Dev, the well-known Hindi films and TV actor, is all set to return on the small screen after a gap of more than decade with this fiction show. He will play the antagonist Gul Badshah, a tribal Afghan leader who hails from the Pashtun mountain belt and fights against the Indian soldiers. The stellar cast of the show also includes Mohit Raina in the main lead as Havildar Ishar Singh and Luke Kenny as Major Des Voeux.
Speaking about his role, Mukul, said, “I was looking for a project that is dramatic, compelling and unlike from what is being currently shown on TV. When I got this offer from Discovery JEET, I was sure that it will be differentiated. And, since the battle of Saragarhi is a landmark in our history, I immediately agreed to be a part of it.”
“I have been exposed to the Afghan culture since childhood. My father knows how to speak in Pashtun and Persian and he helped me to get the correct pronunciation and diction …it’s a Hindi serial so I have given it my personal touch too,” adds Mukul.
Discovery Jeet is aiming to aiming to break the clutter in the Hindi GEC arena riding on purposeful yet entertaining content. The soon to be launched channel will bring together Discovery’s unmatched storytelling and the best of real-life entertainment through larger than life stories aimed at inspiring millions.
