Bengaluru : The second season of Kannada version of the reality show Big Boss, which is being aired on Star India’s Kannada GEC “Suvarna” is filled with plenty of twists and turns as anticipated and things happening inside and outside the Big Boss house, week by week turning out to be nothing less than politics in real life.
Right from the listing of participants and planting necessary controversies along with them to get it brewed at later stage inside the house and instances like Pinning up between Actress Anitha Bhat, who has been called Kannada’s soft porn lady and actor Adi Lokesh but later on changing the affair track between him and neetu. The break-up and patch-up drama between two Good long time friends Santosh and Deepika Kamaiah and brewing romance, proposals etc… are examples of right amount of balancing with romance element in the show being orchestrated carefully.
In a recent spat between two parties fight for a majority, TV actress Shwetha Chengappa and Sandalwood actress Deepika Kamaiah. The week saw many political campaigns, manipulations and games from both the parties to entice their housemates to join the parties and While it seemed to be an even competition between the two parties with an equal number of four supporters for both the leaders being seen just before the elections. actor Adi Lokesh, who had pledged his support to Shwetha’s party, ended up jumping the boat and voted for his friend Deepika’s party was a replica of cross voting and horse trading activity in real life politics.
Followed by the entry of Kannada films maker Guruprasad the atmosphere witnessed a real change with the political game getting harder and murkier and a recent elimination of actor Adi Lokesh has created even more flutters both inside and outside the house of Big Boss.
The actor after leaving the show has revealed several secrets about the functioning inside the Bigg Boss house. According to Adi, TV actors who are part of the show, have ganged up and making sure that only film actors are eliminated from the show.
Adi has also slammed filmmaker Guruprasad quoting “Bigg Boss is not a place for us, especially when a person like Guruprasad comes in. Till then everyone thought I would enter the finals. He uses a lot of foul language and his behavior is very bad. After his entry in the show I was praying that I should be eliminated and I am happy that voters understood my pains and helped me a way out of the house,”
However, despite all this controversies inside and outside the Big Boss house of the season 2, still the reality show haven’t click the necessary ratings and never been a market topper and in fact it got stagnant at a point. When compared with the season one of the show with same host on ETV Kannada which was a solid channel and market topper, whereas, failed to match such deliveries in the second season and it is way behind that of the previous one and given the platform strength and potential of the channel “Suvarna” it can never be compared at all.
With all possible tables are being turned, the channel is still searching for a right medicine to stir up a miracle. Such disappointing performance also raises a question on the cost viability of the show in a regional market like Kannada.
