DHX Media has signed nine new distribution deals for season one of the animated comedy-adventure series Fangbone!
Among the linear broadcasters to pick up Fangbone! are ABC ME in Australia, CITV in the U.K., Gulli and Canal J in France, Discovery in Italy, MBC3 for the Middle East, Ultra in former Yugoslavia, Zoom in Israel and Canal Panda in Portugal. In addition, Netflix secured an SVOD deal for second-window streaming rights worldwide.
These new licensees join Disney XD channels in the U.S., Latin America, Southeast Asia and Taiwan, which already picked up the series. Fangbone!, for kids aged 8 to 12, is based on the books by New York Times best-selling author Michael Rex about a young barbarian from Skullbania who travels through a magical portal into the suburbs of our world. The show is an original DHX Television commission that airs on Family CHRGD. The series is distributed worldwide by DHX Media.
Josh Scherba, the executive VP of distribution and content of DHX Media, said, “We are always on the lookout for innovative, distinctive kids’ content with global appeal for our distribution slate. Fangbone! is a series that really catches the eye, which is clear from the scope of our streaming and broadcast deals. As well as consistently winning audiences on our own Family CHRGD channel, we expect the show to gain a strong following globally through the terrific outlets announced today.”
