Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) has hired Sanjay Bhasin, the CEO Y&R Southeast Asia and Thailand. While DAN has confirmed the joining of Bhasin, they declined to divulge further information related to his role functionality and position in the organization.
Confirming the end of Bhasin’s longest association, Y&R spokesperson shared that plans to announce the new head of Y&R Asia and the sub-regional structure will be done in due course. The spokesperson added that there is a current solid leadership team in place in Thailand, with news of additional appointments to come.
“Bhasin’s 25-year tenure at Y&R has been marked by many achievements, notably the growth and success of Y&R’s network in Southeast Asia. We are deeply thankful for his many years and accomplishments, and wish him all the very best in his next chapter,” the spokesperson added.
It may be noted that recently, DAN appointed Duncan Pointer to the role of CEO of Vizeum Asia Pacific, while Kristian Barnes assumes the newly created role of regional chief client officer for DAN. Both report to Nick Waters, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Asia Pacific.
During his brief stint with Y&R, Bhasin held the role of regional account Managing Director of Y&R from 1999 to 2006. He was the Regional Director/Chief Client Officer of Y&R Brands from 2006 to 2009. He became Y&R CEO of Thailand and Indochina in 2009 and held the role for three years. Bhasin was then handed additional duties in 2012, which saw him undertaking the Southeast Asia market in his remit.
He first begun his career with Y&R in its New York office in 1993 and relocated to Asia in 1999, helping to grow the region’s Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines offices. His work with Y&R saw him working with clients such as Caltex, Citibank, Danone, LG and Sony.
