Dentsu India recently marked the 8th edition of its global annual volunteering event, ‘One Day for Change (ODFC)’, uniting its employees in a powerful initiative for sustainability. This year’s theme, ‘Sustainable Behaviours,’ emphasized reducing consumption, promoting a circular economy, and safeguarding finite resources for future generations, in line with the network’s 2030 Sustainability strategy.
Sustainable behaviors include adopting habits that lessen environmental impact, such as shifting to plant-based diets, using renewable energy, minimizing food waste, and embracing recycling. It also encourages supporting second-hand goods and initiatives that uplift marginalized communities.
To promote these sustainable practices, Dentsu organized activities focusing on protecting and restoring nature, upcycling, recycling, and collaborating with nonprofits. Activities took place across Dentsu India’s offices in Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bangalore, and Pune on September 4, 12, and 13. The event kicked off with a tree plantation drive in partnership with SankalpTaru Foundation, resulting in the planting of 730 trees, fostering community among volunteers while helping them offset their carbon footprints.
Another activity included a seedball-making session where volunteers created over 5,000 seedballs, demonstrating that impactful conservation efforts can begin indoors. The finale featured a Hackathon organized by Waste Warriors, focusing on waste management challenges in the Indian Himalayas, where participants strategized solutions to raise awareness about mountain plastic pollution.
ODFC 2024 saw enthusiastic participation, with Dentsu India employees contributing over 500 hours across the three-day event.
Harsha Razdan, CEO, South Asia, Dentsu, commented, “We stand proud, witnessing the steadfast commitment of our people during this year’s ‘One Day for Change’. The 8th edition has reminded us that when we come together with purpose, even the smallest actions can ignite a wave of transformation. At Dentsu, our mission extends beyond the simple acts of reducing, recycling, and reusing – it’s about rekindling our responsibility to protect the Earth and fostering a circular economy that nurtures future generations. True change begins with a single step. The actions we have taken – from planting trees to solving complex challenges – are steps toward a much larger vision. This is not just about meeting our sustainability goals for 2030. It’s about creating ripples of positive impact, driven by the belief that we can shape a better world, not just for ourselves, but for all who share this planet.”
