New Delhi: TV Today Network has faced another setback as the Delhi High Court has refused to entertain the case filed by the Network alleging Republic TV of running Multiple LCNs (Logical Channel Numbers).
The Court said that it is a matter between broadcasters, MSOs and TRAI and Court did not go into maintainability of TV today’s case. The bench said,the matter needs to be examined by TRAI and necessary take action needs to be taken per current laws.
On its part TRAI confirmed in court that it has received complaints against Republic TV and also from several others including one against TV Today Network also and conveyed the court that it will investigate and take appropriate action.
In response to this, the counsel of TV Today Network prayed the court to direct TRAI to finish its investigation in a limited time bound period, which was also turned down by the Court.
Speaking on the development Mr. Vikas Kanchandhani, CEO of Republic TV said, “The key office bearers of NBA must introspect and self reflect. They have used an industry body and adopted a blatantly partisan attitude to drive their personal agenda which has diluted NBA’s stature”
Reacting to the verdict Mr. Arnab Goswami – The Founder of Republic TV tweeted “Truth prevailed today and shall continue to prevail. We’re armed and ready with our band of Davids. Thank you for being with us in the fight, viewers. Your faith is our strength. You are Republic, we are just your voice”.
Sources also reveal that TV Today Network has decided to withdraw their plea and subsequently the same was dismissed by the Delhi High Court.
