According to media sources, Prasar Bharati was able to generate a revenue of Rs 291.05 crore ( Bucket A and B) in the ongoing e-auction for vacant MPEG-2 slots on DD Free Dish.
The last slot in Bucket A category, comprising of movies, was won by Zee Anmol Cinema, who paid Rs 24.05 crore, which is double the base price of Rs 12 crore for that particular slot, making it the highest ever paid for a movie genre to DD Free Dish.
Four slots in Bucket B category, which comprises of Music (Hindi) channels, Sports (Hindi) channels, and Bhojpuri channels, were secured by MTV Beats, Sports18, Zee Biskope, and Mastii, respectively. Zee Biskope paid the highest price of Rs 21.2 crore, while the base price of a slot in this category is Rs 10 crore.
Few channels participated in the auction to pick up the vacant slots in the Bucket C category, despite the boycott call made by NBDA and NBF.
Following a competitive bidding process, Hindi news channels Republic Bharat, News18 India, TV9 Bharatvarsh and Zee News bought the slots.
