Mumbai: Daniel Tan, Senior Vice President of Marketing for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, will be stepping down from his role at Warner Bros. Discovery. Tan’s last day with the company is set for January 31, 2025, though he will continue to support the organization until March 31, 2025. The company is actively recruiting a successor for the position.
Tan joined Warner Bros. Discovery in 2021 as Vice President of Growth Marketing, Streaming, and APAC. During his tenure, he led full-funnel marketing initiatives across the region, driving brand awareness through digital and performance marketing, social media, and creative strategies. He also spearheaded efforts to boost streaming revenues, led pricing, packaging, and partnerships, and played a key role in enhancing business insights and data science capabilities in his role as Vice President.
In 2023, Tan was promoted to Senior Vice President, Marketing (APAC), where he took on a broader scope. His responsibilities expanded to overseeing integrated marketing functions across the region, covering Warner Bros. Discovery’s direct-to-consumer service (Max), linear networks, consumer products, and advertising businesses. He played a crucial role in executing brand, commercial partnership, and franchise marketing strategies aimed at boosting consumer awareness, engagement, and retention.
Tan’s career spans over 18 years in the industry. Prior to his time at Warner Bros. Discovery, he spent eight years at The Walt Disney Company, where he climbed the ranks from Director of Marketing, Branded Media and Content to various leadership positions, including Executive Director of Consumer Marketing, Brand and Franchise Management. Tan also served as Head of Studio Entertainment and Head of Marketing for Disney+ in Southeast Asia, where he was involved in the platform’s launch across several key markets, including Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Throughout his time at Warner Bros. Discovery, Tan built a high-performing team and played an instrumental role in the success of major franchises such as House of the Dragon, The Penguin, The Last of Us, Harry Potter, and the DC Universe. He was also deeply involved in the launch of Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform, Max, which debuted in November 2024 across Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Tan’s team created a disruptive multi-city campaign to celebrate Max’s launch and its subsequent expansion into Japan and New Zealand.
