BARC India has unveiled the viewership ratings data after a long gap following the show cause notice issued by TRAI. The measurement agency has released the data for week 13 pertaining to the period from Saturday, 23rd March 2019 to Friday, 29th March 2019. In week 13 the Total TV impressions under all India TG: 2+, NCCS Allstood at 15.4 billion impressions and TV+OOH has registered 15.6 billion impressions.
The first look into the basic data released by BARC India throws plenty of surprises that reflect the scenario after the implementation of New Tariff rule by TRAI. Sun TV which used to dominated across genres viewership as most watched channel has been replaced by Hindi GEC FTA channel Dangal. Many secondary GECs in the HSM market has witnessed considerable erosion of viewership, as the channel are not featuring in the Top 10 list in HSM Urban or Rural market. Tamil GEC Zee Tamil has gained viewership to feature in the Top 10 list of channel in across genres.
According to the data, Hindi Entertainment Channel Dangal owned by Enterr10 Television has emerged as the most watched channel in country in across genres with 116.4 impressions. Market sources attribute the meteoric raise of Dangal in the rating charts is attributed to its placement in DDFreeDish. Strongly driven by IPL viewership Star Sports 1 Hindi has emerged as the second most watched in the country with 109.5 million impressions.
The Tamil GEC Sun TV which used dominate the across genres rating chart during the past has dropped down to No. 3 position with its 85 million impressions against 111 million impressions registered during week 1 of 2019. Its counter part Zee Tamil which is giving tough fight to Sun TV in the recent past has made its way to Top 10 most watched channels in the country with 52 million impressions and stood at 10th position.
Big Magic stood at No. 4 with 67.5 million impressions while Star Plus followed the same at No. 5 with 66.9 million impressions.
Star India’s Telugu GEC Star Maa stood at No. 6 with 63.6 million impressions. Hindi GEC Zee TV stood at No. 7 with 58.95 million impressions.
With 53.4 million impressions Sony Entertainment Television stood at No. 8 and Viacom 18’s Colors stood at No. 9 with 52.1 million impressions.
