Trivandrum: Its common to have controversies on a Reality show as the contestants compete against each other for a better recognition and such controversies always attracted a greater viewership in the past. Success of the reality shows like Bigg Boss are purely based on the feuds and controversies surrounding the participants.
However, the controversies between the contestants and judges who judge their performance is rarely seen and such incidents can cause extreme discomfort to judges of any reality show. “Music India” the reality show on Asianet has recently witnessed such extreme bursting situation between the contestants and judges.
The reality show “Music India” in which 12 music bands compete with each other for the title, has been in the news for different reasons. In a recent episode, a group of contestants who were completely unhappy with the judges’ verdict, busted out openly on the show.
While one contestant took an extreme step and openly declared that he was quitting the show on air. on the other hand, another group questioned the judges on why they awarded them low marks despite a good performance. However, judges Deepak Dev and George Peter managed to pacify them and asked them to come back with a better performance.
The controversy has taken the outrage on a reality show to next level as the days of accepting the judges verdict in a humble manner without any reaction are gone and henceforth judges are expected to have tough time in making their decisions.
While there is a wide spread discussions about artificially planting such fiction elements in reality shows now a days to create a hype through on-air promos to pump-up the curiosity level of audience and achieve higher ratings. It is unclear that the controversy in Asainet’s “Music India” is natural occurrence due to genuine outburst of a frustrated contestant or due to any other artificial factors.
It may be noted that recently television actor Babloo (aka) Prithiviraj has openly declared after seven years that the tiff between him as a contestant and actor Simbu, who was a celebrity judge by then, in the reality show Jodi No.1 was artificially planted by the channel to boost up the ratings.
“Music India” is a reality show for amateur bands in which, 12 Malayalam music bands will compete with each other at various levels. The show has commenced on 25th September and being aired on every Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 8 pm to 9 pm.
