Mumbai: WE Communications has made another notch in its acquisitions belt after taking a majority stake in Indian public relations firm Avian Media.
The Seattle-founded agency, which already has offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, will merge with independent shop to form Avian WE.
Through the acquisition, WE will also gain Avian’s consultancy arm, Chase, although the latter will retain its name and remain a separate subsidiary company.
Founded in 2004 and spanning 150 people across six offices, Avian will now be led by co-partner NitinMantri as group chief executive officer.
The agency counts Airbnb, Airbus, Bloomberg, Dell, MasterCard, Qualcomm, Sony and TripAdvisor on its client roster.
“The merger between Avian into WE represents a huge opportunity for us to accelerate our expansion into new sectors and markets within the region. With the increased scale of the combined business, we can deepen our specialist capabilities, particularly in the areas of our power sectors technology, health and consumer and provide our team with greater development opportunities,” said Mantri.
WE has made significant investments into Asia since last year, having acquired Red Bridge Communications in Shanghai and Singapore-based corporate affairs consultancy WATATAWA.
