Mumbai : When Optimystix Productions started off with Comedy Circus on Sony TV starring Krushna Abhishek, Sudesh Lahiri, Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singh and other comedians the show was a one point stop for pure entertainment until Kapil Sharma broke up and launched his own show “Comedy Nights with Kapil” on Colors, apparently, it ate into the numbers of Comedy Circus forcing it to shut shop.
Sources inform that Comedy Circus has been re-christened as ‘Comedy Classes’ and will be produced by the same production house Optimystix Productions. The show will be aired on Life OK now and will see a format change. Most of the comedians like Krushna Abhishek, Bharti Singh, Sudesh Lahiri, and Siddharth Sagar from Comedy Circus will be retained for the new show also.
Comedy Classes was initially made for “Colors”, However, the deal fell through and the makers approached “Life OK” for the purpose. A source tells us, “The show was to air from Monday to Friday, but the Channel “Colors” failed to allot a time slot to it. The production house, though keen to work with the channel, couldn’t wait indefinitely and after several meetings, the project was cancelled.”
Sources also confirm that the show will be launched on November 27th on Life OK and the promotional activity will be initiated shortly.
Those associated with the show tell us that the treatment given to it is like the popular international hit comedy, The Big Band Theory. Says a source, “The show will have a live audience; The Big Bang Theory too was filmed in front of a live audience.
Comedy Classes is seen as an opportunity for the production house and other comedians of Comedy Circus to bounce back and prove their mettle against Kapil Sharma’s “Comedy Nights”
