Mumbai: Brand Equity unveils the list of India’s Top 100 Most Trusted Brands this morning. With a sample size of 7,200 respondents, the survey conducted by Nielsen across SEC A, B and C confined to urban India so as to focus on the prime target consumer for most of these brands.
Colgate emerges at the top of the trust pyramid for the third year in a row. This is their second hat-trick in the history of Most Trusted Brands survey, say the archives. Bouncing back from the seventh rank to a strong No.2 is Nokia; which leaves Dettol, 2013’s first runner up, at the third place in this year’s fray. While most of the names from last year’s top block remain unchanged, albeit with a jump or a drop, brands like Lifebuoy, Airtel and Closeup were ousted by new entrants to the top 10 family namely Surf Excel, Bata and Frooti.
The 12 cities covered for research were Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Indore, Chennai, Bangalore and Vijayawada. After months of debates and discussions between Brand Equity and Nielsen’s research team, 17 new brands were included in the survey. Brands that are now defunct or had poor scores over the last few editions were taken out this time.
Here are the top 10 of the lot (see graphic). But rest assured there are a lot more surprises in the 11-100 range; yet another reason to believe that trust can be a total game-changer as far as brand rankings are concerned. Turn over to Brand Equity to know who have made it to the top 100 this year.
