CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker resigned from the position on Wednesday effective immediately after failing to disclose a consensual relationship with another top executive at the network.
In an internal email, Zucker said, “I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, someone I have worked with for more than 20 years. I acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn’t. I was wrong.”
Zucker has been a prominent player in the TV industry for decades and was an influential leader at CNN. During his nine-year stint, he played a major role in reshaping the cable news network and routinely led the morning news meetings.
