Mumbai: HARMAN International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., specializing in connected technologies for the automotive, consumer, and enterprise markets, has announced a significant leadership change. Michael Mauser, who has served as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, will step down effective March 31, 2025. The HARMAN Board of Directors has unanimously appointed Christian Sobottka, currently President of HARMAN’s Automotive Division, as the new President and CEO, effective April 1, 2025.
Michael Mauser has dedicated over 27 years to HARMAN, leading the company through transformative phases, including its acquisition by Samsung in 2017 and overcoming challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and global semiconductor shortages. Under his leadership, HARMAN’s revenue grew to $11 billion, achieving record profitability and securing a $45 billion backlog in awarded automotive business.
“After nearly three decades with HARMAN and in line with our thoughtful succession planning process, I have decided to step away to spend more time with my family and explore new opportunities,” said Mauser. “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and confident in Christian’s ability to lead HARMAN into its next chapter.”
Christian Sobottka brings over 25 years of international automotive industry experience to his new role. Since being appointed President of HARMAN’s Automotive Division in January 2021, he has successfully driven the company’s transition towards a more product- and software-centric model. He has played a pivotal role in advancing in-cabin experience innovations and securing key partnerships within the automotive sector. Prior to joining HARMAN, Sobottka held executive roles at Robert Bosch, focusing on automotive technologies.

In addition to Sobottka’s appointment, Dave Rogers, President of HARMAN’s Lifestyle Division, will join the Board of Directors.
