Cheil Worldwide, the global network encompassing McKinney, the Barbarian Group, Beattie McGuinness Bungay and iris, has named Malcolm Poynton as its first global chief creative officer.
As global chief creative officer Poynton has been charged with helping Cheil’s creative evolution with the role created as part of the network’s push to boost international growth and reputation. He will work alongside Chris Chalk, global chief strategy officer, Peter Kim, chief digital officer and Simon Hathaway, global head of RX.
“Cheil Worldwide has the talent, dynamism and the ambition to stand shoulder to shoulder and even surpass the most creative networks out there,” said Poynton. “I’m looking forward to being part of making that a reality.”
Poynton joins Cheil from SapientNitro where he served as chief creative officer Europe for four years. Prior to that he held the role of executive creative director at Ogilvy & Mather in London and has spent time with Saatchi & Saatchi in Sydney and M&C Saatchi in London.
The role sees Poynton working across the global Cheil Worldwide portfolio which includes Samsung, Samsonite and Hankook Tire as clients. He will remain based in London.
