Puthiya Thalaimurai is renowned for its annual award ceremonies, including the prestigious Tamilan Awards, Sakthi Awards, and Aasiriyar Awards, aimed at recognizing exemplary individuals who contribute significantly to society.
The Sakthi Awards specifically acknowledge the exceptional achievements and contributions of women across six distinct categories, underscoring their pivotal role in societal progress and upliftment.
A rigorous selection process, overseen by a distinguished panel of judges, meticulously evaluates nominations across six categories: Ability, Courage, Leadership, Benevolence, Knowledge, and Lifetime Achievement. The 2024 awardees were carefully chosen based on their outstanding merits and dedication to their respective fields.
The recipients of the esteemed Sakthi Awards for 2024 are as follows:
Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chairman of MS Swaminathan Foundation & Former WHO Chief Scientist – Sakthi Award for Knowledge.
Priya Babu, Transgender Activist – Sakthi Award for Benevolence.
Nigar Shaji, Program Director of Aditya L1 – Sakthi Award for Leadership.
Priya Ravichandran, IAS – Sakthi Award for Courage.
Vaishali, Chess Player – Sakthi Award for Ability.
Papammal (A) Rangammal, 108-year-old Organic Farmer and Padma Shri Awardee – Sakthi Award for ‘Lifetime Achievement’.
The ceremony commenced with a stirring performance of a specially composed song celebrating the indomitable spirit of womanhood, courtesy of acclaimed music director Karthik Raja.
