Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has mandated the DPOs to implement the NTO 2.0, starting 1st February 2023. The Pay TV broadcasters have released heir revised subscription rates as per the NTO 2.0.
The new Pay TV subscription rates for a la carte and bouquet rates revealed by the broadcasters indicates that there will be significant changes in the subscription cost. TRAI’s amendment under NTO 2.0 restricts a la carte channel pricing of Rs 19, to be part of a bouquet. If it charges more than that, then it naturally disqualifies itself from being part of a bouquet.
Internal communication of Tamil Nadu Digital Cable TV Operators Association revealed that the price of Sun Tamil Bouquet was increased from Rs. 40 to 45, Star Value Pack from Rs. 32 to 43, ZEE Prime Pack from Rs. 12 to 19, and the Colors Tamil Pack from Rs. 8 to 11.40.
Many DPOs started informing their subscribers on the revised rates effective from 1st February 2023. They have also requested the Broadcasters to take necessary steps to communicate the subscribers on the changes through their channels.
