Every year, around Independence day , a plethora of brands ride on invoking patriotism and express their social responsibility towards the progress of the nation. The brands also never fail to remember and pay tribute the martyrs and freedom fighters without whom we wouldn’t have been freed from the clutches of the British rule.
This year the brands and media entities were even more active as the fragrance of freedom and patriotism was felt all over the nation. Brands this year came up with different innovative and path- breaking ideas to stand out of the clutter and was quite competent with each other. While some of the brands saluted and honoured our freedom fighters, few others weaved freedom with their brands to get the connect.
Some of the notable campaigns that attracted our attention this Independence Day are as below:
Godrej
Godrej launched a nostalgic film inter-twining Godrej Group’s 120-year-journey from manufacturing locks in 1897, to making soaps from vegetable oil, to making India’s first ballot boxes, to making Asia’s first typewriters, to making key components for India’s first Mars mission in 2013. The film beautifully encapsulates the transition of the brand from not just “Making In India” but “Making India”.
Commenting on the film, Tanya Dubash, Executive Director and Chief Brand Officer, Godrej Group said, “Godrej’s journey is wonderfully intertwined with our country’s history. The film portrays our 120 year old journey towards Making India and strengthens our commitment towards further building the nation.”
Tide
Tide India celebrated the spirit of Independence Day with a video that highlights some of the proudest and Brightest moments India has witnessed in last 71 years of freedom. The brand will also connect with its digital audience by encouraging consumers to share back their #TideWhite moments through the past 71 years by posting their #TideWhite moments.
Bajaj Avenger
Bajaj Avenger’s new Independence Day digital film touches on a highly relevant issue that concerns all of us – our indiscriminate use of plastic. The film sends out a dual message – a warning about the overuse of plastic that threatens our environment as well as a counterpoint to the increasing trend of tokenism that has crept into our celebrations during Independence Day.
“We felt we could offer a reality check to the nation on a day that stands for liberation, urging citizens to live the essence of Independence Day by taking steps to free India from plastic pollution” said Narayan Sundararaman, Vice president – Marketing, Bajaj Auto.
Indiabulls Home Loans
Indiabulls Home Loans built up on their brand campaign with a beautiful music video, based on an overarching thought “A Home Called India” The campaign aims to highlight the importance of how this thought resonates with each one of us and how it unites us as one big family staying in a home called India, how your city feels like your own when you own a home in that city.
Moments of Freedom and Independence are not only experienced but also cherished. Not only do they create nostalgia but also reignite a sense of patriotism in every individual.
