Mumbai: The fruit drink brand Maaza had surpassed the sales of Coke in India and reported total sales of Rs 2,826 crore in FY21 in the domestic market, according to media reports.
The lemon-and-lime flavoured carbonated soft drink brand, Limca had recorded total sales of Rs 2,061 crore in FY21.
The brands – Maaza and Limca, and Thums Up were acquired by The Coca-Cola Company in 1993 from Ramesh Chauhan of Parle Bisleri when the American multinational beverage corporation company re-entered the Indian market. Under Coca-Cola, Thums Up has now become a billion-dollar brand (Rs 7,500 crore). Reportedly, in India Maaza is ranked as the No. 3 brand and Limca is the sixth brand in terms of sales volume in the overall beverage category.
