Mumbai: Drama series Big Little Lies currently airs on Star World Premiere HD every Tuesday, 10 PM. The series has managed to grab the attention of viewers ever since its premiere with a gripping plot line and stunning performances by Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman along with The Fault in Our Stars fame Shailene Woodley respectively, who have also been the driving force behind women-related conversations since the inception of their show. The Thrill-o-coaster finally comes to an end this Tuesday, April 4th on Star World Premiere HD, as the limited series nears its ultimate, nerve-wracking end.
Based on Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel, Big Little Lies is a subversive, darkly comic seven-part series that follows three mothers of kindergarteners whose apparently perfect lives unravel to the point of murder. The series introduced a murder in its premiere episode and the top-notch cast keeps the mystery simmering with every new episode.
Who died and who killed? A not-so-easy question is days away from being answered. Could it be one of the fathers? Rated 8.6 on IMDB, Big Little Lies,is being heaped with praises by critics the world over. Heavy on female casting and starring famous female actors – Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz alongside lead actors Witherspoon, Kidman and Woodley, Newsweek said, “’Big Little Lies’ leaves TV’s male anti-hero era behind”. Entertainment Weekly, on the other hand, praised the actors, “Kidman and Woodley deliver moving portraits of still-life women, paralyzed by trauma and avoidance. Witherspoon is marvelous in a rare role that allows for comedy and drama”
Oscar winner Jean-Marc Vallée of the multi-award winning movies ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ and ‘Wild’ along with writer David E. Kelley of the Golden Globe winning ‘Goliath’ fame are the men behind the series and their beautiful execution of bringing the book to life on small screen has been lauded extensively by all, including critics.
Interestingly, A-listers Nicole Kidman & Reese Witherspoon have also assumed responsibilities as executive producers of the show apart from delivering some terrific performances as Madeline and Celeste on the show.
