Chennai : India’s 45-station network 92.7 BIG FM has repositioned its Chennai station to play contemporary Top 100 Kalakkal hits.
According to the station, the re-positioning is in line with the network’s new logo as well as the focus to appeal to the younger audience.
Its breakfast show BIG Melody Mornings will be replaced by Jalabala Juckkamma with RJ Sarethran and Tea Kadai Bench with RJ Giri Giri.
The channel will continue to air the evening drive show Take it Easy with RJ Balaji.
The relaunch was announced at a press conference featuring presenters Balaji, Ramya, Archana, Sarithiran, Vignesh Karthick, Giri Giri and Miruthula.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwin Padmanabhan, Chief Operating Officer, Reliance Broadcast Network Limited said: “Our idea behind the change in the Chennai stationality is to appeal to the younger audience. The content too has been modified in a way that it blends with today’s generation. We will play the current era’s Top 100 Kalakkal Hits.”
On being associated with the re-launch, RJ Balaji said: “The channel has crafted its relaunch carefully in sync with Gen Y, with a focus on hot picks and trending issues while playing beautiful contemporary hit songs. It is a fresh and revolutionized concept.”
BIG FM currently ranks second at an all-India level while reaching out to an astounding 43.2 million listeners per week. The FM operator had changed its logo recently which is contemporary, young, optimistic and fun.
