Mumbai: BIG FM recently announced its campaign ‘TreePublic’ in association with IDFC FIRST Bank now takes the initiative to the next level. The radio network is extending its reach in order to spread awareness around the plantation of trees and importance of it in the society. As its next steps, the radio station will target more than 30 schools across 5 cities namely Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata with the intent to educate students on the initiative.
The cause that was inaugurated on IDFC FIRST Bank Founders day and urges listeners to make India a ‘TreePublic’ will have BIG FM RJs like Vrajesh Hirjee, Khurafati Nitin, Sangram among others who will lead this initiative from the front. These RJs will be visiting schools in their local cities and engaging with students on one of the most pressing issues that concerns Mother Earth. Ensuring that the children act as the agents of change, they will be handing out seed pencils to them which they can take back home and plant a tree. Additionally, the radio station is also sending a letter to their parents and requesting them to make environment-friendly choices in their day to day lives for a better future of their children.
Speaking about the noble cause, BIG FM spokesperson said, “Everyone has been showcasing their concerns towards the environment and pollution but only a few of us have actually taken any concrete step in this direction. As they say, ‘Change starts with you’. We have always believed in this philosophy and hence started this campaign to save the environment. Through the TreePublic school drive we are reaching out to these young and bright minds who are the future of this country and have the power to take the reins in their hands. We want to play a catalyst in sensitizing them and making sure that the future is indeed in safe hands. Our leading RJs from across markets have owned up this cause and are actively engaging with school children to drive this movement. We would also like to thank IDFC First Bank for coming forward and extending their full support to this initiative.”
Adding to this, Shreepad Shende, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, IDFC First Bank said, “The environment, social and economic impact of planting trees is an important aspect of sustainable development. The Treepublic initiative is focused on creating awareness about the benefits of planting trees. As children shape the future of our country, it is our responsibility to plan for their future and give them a better, greener environment. We want to prepare a new generation that cares for the environment. Through our collaboration with 92.7 BIG FM, we are planting a tree for every Savings Account opened from December 18, 2019, to January 26, 2020. The Bank’s customers now not only have an opportunity to grow their wealth with 7% interest per annum on their savings account but also to grow trees for a better and greener future.”
Along with the Treepublic, which is a part of driving purpose-driven initiatives, the radio network has been raising awareness amongst the listeners about many of the environmental issues. As a part of this whole initiative, IDFC FIRST Bank is also urging people to plant a sapling for every new Savings Account opened, helping them watch their sapling grow in parallel to their wealth at IDFC FIRST Bank.
