BBC Worldwide has lined up a slate of new third-party acquisitions for the SVOD services BBC First and BBC Player in Asia.
From all3media international, acquisitions include season one of the psychological thriller Liar; Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime; and Hawking, a biographical film about Stephen Hawking’s early years as a PhD student at Cambridge University. Seasons 19 and 20 of Midsomer Murders and seasons five to eight of Inspector George Gently were also picked up from the distributor.
Further third-party titles headed to the SVODs in Asia include the first three seasons of Poldark and the first two of Victoria. These two were picked up from ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE).
Ryan Shiotani, BBC Worldwide’s VP of content in Asia, said: “We are very pleased to work with all3media international and ITVS GE for premium dramas. The partnerships with the two distributors allow us to grow the breadth of our offering, to deliver the best of British content to our viewers.”
