‘Yaanam’, a documentary film produced by Dr. A V Anoop of AVA Productions was screened today at Prasad Preview Theatre, Saligramam, Chennai. The Documentary is scripted & directed by Vinod Mankara, who bagged various awards including 2 National award, 8 Kerala state awards,7 Kerala film critics’ awards and 2 Kerala kalamandalam awards. His national award winning feature film” Priyamanasam”, drew accolades of praise as the third Sanskrit Film of the World and was the opening film for the Indian panorama in the year 2005 . He was the jury member in many national and international award committees including the National film award. He has published 7 books and more than 1000 articles in various medias all over India. The documentary portrays India’s dream project “Mangalyan” (Mars Orbiter Mission) and this is the first ever Science- Sanskrit Film in the history of World Cinema.
India is the fourth country to complete the gruelling Mars Mission along with The United States, The European Union and China. It is also noteworthy that India is hailed as the first country to successfully complete the miraculous venture of interplanetary travel (Mars Mission) at a much lesser cost than Hollywood movies like “Gravity”.
The main mission of Yaanam is to showcase the expertise and capabilities of the Indian Space Research Organization and the stellar performances of the talented Space Scientists and in popularising the importance of Sanskrit language. When world scientists expected only a 60 percent chance of success in the Mars Mission, this film reveals how India overcame such an arduous interplanetary journey and reached this monumental victory in the first attempt itself.
This movie deals with rocket making, its launching, satellite making, control of interplanetary travel etc. The documentary Yaanam is based on the autobiographical book “MY ODYSSEY” by former ISRO Chairman Padmabhushan Dr. Radhakrishnan.
The film inscribes the contribution of the Indian sages on the planets of the Solar System (Sooryasidhantham) to the journey of the Mangalyaan. The technical team behind deserves special mention and was handled by experienced team including S.B. Prajith (Cinematographer), Vishnu Puliyara (Editor), Prakash Ulliyeri (Music), Shabu N (Sound effects & mixing), Narration by Aliyar, Dr. Sudheesh O S (Language Support), Anil Thanavur (Art) & Bhattathiri (Design). “Yaanam” has been produced with the complete support and cooperation of ISRO.
