The debut of pan-Asian TV format Asia’s Got Talent has proved an early ratings winner for broadcaster AXN, emerging as the most-watched entertainment show in its timeslot on English-language pay-TV channels in Southeast Asia and Taiwan.
Billed as “the biggest talent competition in the world”, the show was the top rating show in the Philippines – where talent shows are hugely popular – for AXN so far this year. During its broadcast, AXN ranked number one in the archipelago with more than 80 per cent share among English general entertainment channels.
The show also claimed 80 per cent share in its timeslot among English general entertainment channels on Astro in Malaysia, where it was the most-watched show across all English channels.
In Singapore, AGT led the ratings chart in its timeslot for English pay-TV channels and AXN was also the top English channel for the night on StarHub.
The show claimed 79 per cent share among the international general entertainment channels in Taiwan.
Asia’s Got Talent premiered on Thursday of last week.
Hui Keng Ang, SVP and GM of Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia said: “Asia’s Got Talent is off to a thrilling start on AXN as we bring together millions of viewers to celebrate the diversity of talent and dreams of contestants from over 15 territories in Asia. The response to the premiere is truly incredible and after the success of both The Amazing Race Asia and The Apprentice Asia, AXN continues its mission to create high quality and engaging content.”
