Ashish Bhasin, CEO, APAC, and Chairman India, Dentsu International, has resigned from the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC India). Sources close to the development have confirmed with Medianews4u.
In his letter to the BARC Board, Bhasin cited his preoccupation, commitment, and personal issues as the reasons for resignation, effective immediately.
Bhasin was heading the Audit Committee that steered an internal investigation following the allegations of corruption at BARC India. Though the preliminary report was submitted two months ago, the final report has not been presented to the BARC board yet.
BARC has been facing allegations and has been caught in a wave of controversies on different issues for the last year. A few days back, Sunil Lulla exited the agency as the CEO, and Nakul Chopra was appointed the new CEO.
