Apple has clinched a multiyear content partnership deal with Oprah Winfrey to create original programs.
As per the pact, Winfrey’s projects will be released as part of a lineup of original content from Apple.
For 25 years, Winfrey hosted the daytime talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show and via her Harpo Productions developed the long-running syndicated hits Dr. Phil, The Dr. Oz Show and Rachael Ray. Her Harpo Films banner has produced a number of Academy Award-winning features, including Selma. She earned an Academy Award nomination for her role in Steven Spielberg’s The Color Purple and most recently appeared in the HBO movie The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time.
In 2011, in partnership with Discovery, Winfrey founded the cable network OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and continues to serve as its chairman and CEO.
