Trivendrum : The leading Malayalam GEC Amrita TV is launching a new family chat show ”Malayali Durbar” on July 19th and will be aired every Saturday from 8.00 pm to 9.00 pm.
The show will be an answer to the modern day issues like… How do mothers deal with the aspirations of their teenage daughters when they come into conflict with their own beliefs? Which are the areas and what are the degrees to which working spouses should agree with each other’s judgments on matters? Is the growing extravagance on weddings a necessary evil in today’s social fabric ? How about a postmortem of a divorce, 10 years later, will things look different in retrospect for the parted spouses ?
These are some of the issues that will be tackled in Amrita TV’s new show, “Malayali Durbar” . The show will be hosted by Mollywood’s noted actor Mr.Maniyan Pillai Raju, who is well known for his hilarious roles in various movies for the past three decades.
Joining him on the show will be a celebrity couples; along with real life parents, spouses, children, siblings who will be venting their frank views on a wide range of subjects which plague Kerala society in particular, and India families in general.
The format of the show envisages formation of opinion groups, where the male celebrity may team up with the husbands, while the female celebrity joins hands with the wives or a celebrity mother may join forces with the mothers in the show, whereas the daughter of the celebrity will become a votary for the youth in the show. The host will use his dexterity and experience in navigating the issue at hand to a judicious conclusion.
The treatment of the show has an underlying element of humour and bonhomie so that it doesn’t degenerate into a slanging match between groups of people, preventing meaningful and frank deliberations. Despite being a chat show, every episode will feature nearly 50-odd participants.
Amrita TV established in 2005 as a Malayalam GEC and news satellite channel with a global foot print and its the only Indian TV channel to win 61 State Awards for Excellence.
