Ahmedabad: Ambuja Cements, a cement and building materials company under the Adani Portfolio, has reinforced its commitment to community welfare through active participation in the government’s ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign. The company has spearheaded various initiatives across rural India, promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainable waste management practices while fostering long-term behavioural change.
In Farakka, West Bengal, community members actively participated in cleaning public spaces and spreading bleaching powder to enhance sanitation. Approximately 2.5–3 quintals of garbage were collected, significantly improving hygiene in key areas.
Khambada, Maharashtra, witnessed a Cleanliness Rally where villagers took a collective cleanliness oath and engaged in a village-wide cleaning drive, reinforcing the importance of sanitation.
At Darlaghat, Himachal Pradesh, the campaign brought together PRI members, school leaders, and community influencers for a painting competition titled ‘Swachhata Hi Seva, Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata’, followed by a comprehensive sanitation drive led by health volunteers and Swachhta Doots.
In Bathinda, Punjab, Ambuja Cements conducted poster competitions in four government schools and organized cleanliness drives in villages including Banwala Hanwanta, Behak Khas, and Asafwala under the Human Resource Development Program (HRDP).
Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, saw collaboration with the Gram Panchayat, farmers, women’s groups, and schools to host sanitation awareness programs, plastic collection drives, and painting competitions to emphasize sustainable waste management.
Additional efforts were carried out in Bhatapara and Sankrail, where Pragati Village Organization and SHG women led cleanliness campaigns, awareness rallies, and garbage collection activities, targeting schools and village cores.
India’s ongoing development in rural sanitation and waste management is pivotal, and Ambuja Cements continues to contribute meaningfully to these efforts, aligning with national priorities and fostering a cleaner, healthier environment.
