Mumbai: Amazon Prime Video has added another title to its vast regional library, critically acclaimed Marathi blockbuster – Aamhi Doghi. Set to release on the service – a few weeks after its theatrical release, the movie will be available for streaming From April 6, 2018. Aamhi Doghi is a feminist drama film starring Mukta Barve and Priya Bapat, directed by Pratima Joshi and produced by Puja Chhabria.
Mukta Barve, while talking about the film said, “Aamhi Doghi is very important to me for various reasons. For the first-time, I play a young step-mom to a 16 year old daughter and while we are used to the relationship being in films and series, this movie paints a very different picture. With a strong female cast and a female director, audiences across India can look forward to a beautiful story told well, that focuses on the mother-daughter relationship.”
Priya Bapat, while talking about the movie said, “It is very heartening to see that our movie, Aamhi Doghi received such a warm response upon release. Aamhi Doghi is a story themed on finding friendship in unexpected situations, and is based on prolific, novelist, short story writer and poet, Gauri Deshpande’s Book Paus Aala Motha. Two women, Savitri played by Priya Bapat and Amala played by Mukta Barve who find each other in the midst of living parallel lives, have woven together a story of understanding. Raised in a household without the presence of her mother and a father who is away most of the time, Savitri Sardesai learns to be practical in her approach towards life; but equations change when her father remarries and brings home Savi’s stepmom Amala.
