Mumbai : Star India’s management had pinned its hope on Ajit Thakur to replicate the magic he had created in ”Life OK” by assigning him with the additional charge of managing ”Channel V”
Industry sources state that the development is due to the exit of Star India executive vice-president and general manager Prem Kamath, who heads Channel V and Star Pravah
It seems Prem Kamath is serving his notice period and Ajit Thakur is expected to get in to his shoes and initiate the transition process.
Ajit Thakur was considered as a new age talent in Indian broadcasting Industry and known for his extraordinary achievements is a very short tenure in Media as he entered the Indian media in the year 2007 after his journey with Brands like Coca-Cola India and Hindustan Unilever.
Moving back to India from London, he joined UTV and he was instrumental in creating the Non-fiction show Dance India Dance (DID) 1st Season, Later he had a very short stint with Balaji Motion Pictures and designed the movie Love, Sex aur Dhoka.
His entry in to Sony TV during the year 2009 was the remarkable moment in his media career, as it served as the excellent platform to display his skills. He pulled the channel Sony TV from rock bottom to a strong no. 2
He was the man who roped in Big B and KBC to Sony TV, reviving CID and other popular shows, He also created a new trend in Bollywood movie acquisition by acquiring big hit movies like 3 idiots for a record price.
In the year 2011 he joined Star India with the assignment of re-launching Star One as Life OK, this is the next best thing that could have happened to him in his career. Star One was considered as a dustbin channel that re-runs all the hit shows which were already been aired in primary GEC Star Plus. He had brought in lots of innovations in Life OK such as creating a 20 mins time band, roping in Madhuri Dixit as a narrator, Lining up a mixer of content that attracts versatile audience that includes youth etc…
His hard work and smart thinking has paid rich dividends to Star India with Life OK becoming No. 3 GEC in the national market and marching towards achieving no. 2 slot.
He is also considered as a man with extraordinary passion towards creativity. Apart from his analytical skills in Television programming, In HUL his campaign for Brand Dove that deals with the women’s testimony on softness was the best example of the fact.
He is also acclaimed for his wonderful man management skills, as he always believes and encourages his team and rewards them copiously.
