New Delhi: All India Radio proposes to record as many as nine lakh folk songs by 2016 under a new initiative, government said in Rajya Sabha today.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore said during the Question Hour that the AIR has undertaken an initiative to record these folk songs from all over the country.
To a related question, he said there are no fixed post of folk singers in AIR but artistes were invited on the basis of their gradations for airing their performances.
There are four gradations in all with a ‘A top’ getting Rs 11,000 for their performance.
