Dhaka: The Advertising Agencies Association of Bangladesh (AAAB) has announced the formation of its new 7-member executive committee, with Sanaul Arefeen appointed as President and Syed Ahsanul Apon as General Secretary.
The new committee also includes Nazim Farhan Choudhury as Vice-President, Sarah Ali as Treasurer, M. A. Maruf as Joint Secretary, and Meherun Nesa Islam and Dr. Muhammad Risalat Siddique as members.
The committee was unanimously approved during AAAB’s annual general meeting held in Banani, attended by industry leaders such as Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, Sara Zaker, Kazi Wahidul Alam, and Yusuf Hassan, along with representatives from over 60 advertising agencies. The meeting was presided over by outgoing President Ramendu Majumdar, with General Secretary Muneer Ahmed Khan conducting the proceedings. A moment of silence was observed to honor martyrs of the anti-discrimination movement and to remember influential figures in the advertising industry, including Aly Zaker and Reza Ali.
The new committee’s key objectives include expanding membership, modernizing the organizational framework, and broadening the scope of Bangladesh’s advertising industry, particularly by embracing digital platforms. With the advertising landscape evolving rapidly since Bangladesh’s independence, the AAAB aims to further globalize local agencies, encourage younger talent, and foster partnerships with government bodies to boost international revenue opportunities.
Founded in 1978, AAAB welcomes directors of communication agencies involved in TV, print, digital media, events, outdoor, and other advertising sectors to join the association and represent their companies.
