Mumbai: Adar Poonawalla, through Serene Productions, has announced a binding agreement to invest ₹1,000 crore in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment, acquiring a 50% stake in the renowned production house. Karan Johar will retain the remaining 50% ownership and continue as Executive Chairman, leading the creative vision, while Apoorva Mehta will oversee strategic direction and operations as Chief Executive Officer.
This investment comes at a time when India’s entertainment industry is expanding rapidly, driven by increased digital penetration and a diverse audience seeking high-quality content.
