Acer has brought in client-agency relationship consultancy Roth Observatory to manage its global creative agency pitch, which has reached the shortlist stage.
Both boutique agencies and larger networks were considered as a potential partner for the Taiwanese computing giant, but the final four contenders are multinationals.
The agencies in the shortlist of four are Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore, the Singapore and Japan offices of Dentsu Aegis, Grey London and the Shanghai and Amsterdam offices of DDB. The creative review does not cover branding for Acer, which is handled by Red Peak.
Roth Observatory’s APAC managing partner Paul Davies commented: “The global IT market is an extremely competitive industry that continues to evolve and transform itself and the lives of billions across the world. As such it has many unique challenges and needs. Acer has grown and succeeded in this challenging industry since 1976 due to its ability to innovate and sheer tenacity. This pitch process has been designed to find a marketing communications partner that will help them continue with their growth and success.”
“We look forward to using our unique tools and methodologies to ensure a fair and rewarding process for all parties involved,” he said.
In the past, Acer has used London-based agency Mother to create its global advertising. Recent work has featured actor Kiefer Sutherland playing a role similar to that of Jack Bauer character from 24.
