Mumbai: To honor the rich history and literature associated with Marathi Language Day ABP Majha is celebrating the occasion with its viewers through a special engagement initiative.
Marking the birth anniversary of renowned Marathi poet and writer Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar, who wrote under the pen name ‘Kusumagraj’, Marathi Bhasha Diwas is widely celebrated in the state of Maharashtra. ABP Majha has always believed in capturing the cultural essence of Maharashtra through its shows and events. The channel has always given priority to culturally driven initiatives, which can help in promoting and preserving the same.
To celebrate this day alongside the viewers, one of ABP Majha’s most renowned anchors, Dnayanda Kadam had asked the viewers to share a handwritten Marathi letter in 300 words about a person who inspired/inspires them the most in Maharashtra. The idea behind this initiative was to preserve and enrich the Marathi language and honor the greatness of Marathi literature.
The channel received an overwhelming response from the viewers, as ABP Majha received over 400 letters, out of which eight have been shortlisted. These letters have been written about personalities like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Raj Thackerey, Sharad Pawar, and more.
The eight shortlisted letters will be rewarded and shall also be published on the website and social media platform of ABP Majha.
Adding a distinct flavor to the celebration, the channel also conducted a special poem show and ‘Majha Katta: Ranganath Pathare’ a popular interview-based show, wherein numerous well-known, lawyers, ministers, actors and other renowned dignitaries from various fields recited their favorite Marathi poem for the viewers. Various luminaries such as Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Devendra Fadnavis, Supriya Sule, and Balasaheb Thoratrecited ruminative poems, making the occasion even more memorable.
Speaking on the initiative, Avinash Pandey, CEO, ABP Network said, “At ABP Majha, we always strive to add intangible cultural and local elements to our content and special initiatives. As a top regional news channel of Maharashtra, we believe in bringing the cultural quintessence through our shows. This not only helps us establish a worthwhile connection with the viewers but also allows us to share the fervor of local festivals and special occasions with them. We have and will always continue to value the rich heritage of Maharashtra. We hope our viewers enjoyed being a part of this initiative, and we shall continue to find new ways to engage them in the future.”
